CIAC Commercial Arbitration

Commercial arbitration is a private mechanism for resolving disputes between companies: the parties agree that independent arbitrators will decide their disputes instead of courts, through an arbitration agreement or pact. Arbitration allows the parties access to specialized decisions, speed, confidentiality, and the possibility of enforcing the arbitration award or judgment in more than 170 countries around the world.

The Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (IACC) promotes appropriate dispute resolution methods and offers arbitration administration services to the international community. These services are provided when the parties expressly refer their arbitration clause to the IACC Rules, or when the clause lacks rules and either party invokes the Panama Convention, in which case the IACC applies its rules as a supplement to regulate the procedure.
